The Clinical and Translational Research, Education, and Commercialization Project (CTRECP) is a joint effort of the Tulane University Health Sciences Center and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-New Orleans, with funding from the Louisiana Board of Regents’ Research Commercialization and Educational Enhancement Program (RC/EEP). The CTRECP includes partnerships and collaborations with the A. B. Freeman School of Business of Tulane University and the New Orleans BioInnovation Center.
The CTRECP has three core areas of emphasis. The Cores are:
- The Research Core, which includes the Clinical and Translational Research Center and the Research Core Laboratory
- The Education/Training Core
- The Commercialization Core
The CTRECP will:
- Support clinical research for the benefit of patients
- Improve retention of faculty in the region and recruitment of faculty to the region
- Prepare trainees and junior faculty to become the next generation of professional clinical research scientists
- Allow the New Orleans area and the State of Louisiana to continue attracting external funding from federal agencies and industry
- Provide Louisiana citizens with access to the latest therapies
- Train researchers and students from business, law, and science in the principles of entrepreneurship
- Establish new industry and jobs for the New Orleans area and the State of Louisiana
